THE ESTATE

The Vineyards

The property extends over 16 hectares, of which 12 are vineyards. In a hilly position, vineyards overlooking the Tiber Valley, enjoying an exceptional view.

The vines (planting 2.30 x 0.80 with 5450 plants / ha), reared by guyot and cordon spurred systems, gave their first fruit in the 2007 harvest.

All operations related to the running of the vineyards are carried out strictly by hand in order to achieve the best quality not only of the finished product but also of the surrounding environment.

Manzoni, Chardonnay, Violone, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo, are the main grapes cultivated on these clayey, slimy soils, which give important wines rich in texture and color. Excellent sun exposure, favorable winds in the Tiber Valley, a strong thermal hike, contribute to a perfect ripening of the grapes.

Soil

The original geological conformation of the territory is of extreme importance. It’s here that the roots of the plant absorb nutritional substances that affect the character of the wine. Our clay soil gives very important wines: intense pigmentation – complex olfactory sensations – richness of alcohol – softness – longevity.

Clima

The geographical and climatic conditions guarantee excellent healthiness to the vines. Our estate benefits from strong day/night temperature variations due to the fresh winds that are created over the Tiber Valley, thus ensuring intense aromas for the grapes. The exposure is optimal as almost all of the vineyards are to the south/east and a part to the south/west. The sun’s rays heat the earth and the grapes for many hours during the day.

Sustainability

Always at the forefront in terms of respect for the environment, we operate eco-sustainable viticulture. Our choices are inspired by the desire to obtain the best quality of the grapes, always with the utmost respect for the plant, the soil and everything that surrounds the vineyards.

LE LASE ESTATE

Orte

The course of the Tiber River acts as the eastern border of the Tuscia Viterbese: an ancient limit between Etruria and the Italic world, today it is between northern Lazio and Umbria.
In ancient times, the Tiber valley played a fundamental role in the relationships between the populations of ancient Italy. Numerous studies and research attest that the Tiber valley has played the role of the main communication route (land and river) in central Italy since prehistoric times. Goods, animals, men and ideas have passed along the course of the river, contributing to the birth of the culture of our country. In the Etruscan age, various centers developed along its course, thanks to the control of the traffic that passed through its territory: among these Orte, also known as the ”city of River”.

Wine Tasting & Tour

You cannot talk about a wine if you don’t talk about a territory first. A wine is always an expression of the land from which it is produced and of the expert hands of man who cultivate and take care of it. Wine borns in the vineyard and grows in the cellar. This is why we want our guests to discover everything that is hidden behind a label. You should always start the long journey of a bottle of wine starting from a walk between the rows. Walking among the vines, smelling the smells of nature, trampling the clay soil of our hills. Then continue with a visit to the winemaking room and the aging rooms where the wine rests until bottling.
Wine is a sensory experience that culminates in the glass. Tasting is the moment in which you will understand how much passion, dedication, courage, intuition, effort (and that necessary pinch of madness) is needed for that sip of wine you are tasting.
